In the archive we have 3 main types of publication available:

1. Specific Blackheath publications. The most notable of theses is undoubtedly The Blackheath Local Guide and District Advertiser - first published by Charles North in January 1889. Originally it was 8 pages of omnibus and train timetables, church services and a few paragraphs of local news. Within 5 years it had a circulation of 5000 and the number of pages had grown from 8 to 60. It continued through to the 1970s.

We are unbelievably fortunate to have such a detailed record of local activities. Other Blackheath magazines are the Reporter, The Guide and the Gazette.

We also have almost complete records of the Westcombe News, published by the Westcombe Society and records dating from the 1970s of the Greenwich Society.

2. Annual Reports of the Society. These detail the history of decisions taken by the Society since its inception. From the report of the very first meeting of the Blackheath Society in 1937, through to last year's report, the Annual Reports give details of the Society's activities and the scope of its work over the previous year.

3. Newsletters of the Society - published 3 time a year and made available to members of the Society.

We are going through the process of making all these available online but only the front pages of some, mainly the Local Guides, are available. Full versions of all issue will be made available as soon as possible but it is a slow process.
