A V2 Flying bomb - 'doodlebug" hit Blackheath on March 8th 1945.
14 year old Paulette Woods who lived in Collins Street was working in the Blackheath Bacon Shop very close to where the bomb landed. She describes what the experience was like.

She also mentions another Blackheath resident, Ruth Williams, who was working nearby, and who achieved celebrity a few years later for a quite unrelated reason.
