Blackheath & Greenwich in Literature - Part 3

Blackheath & Greenwich have featured in literature since the days of Chaucer in the C14th. Blake Morrison, professor of creative and life writing at Goldmith's University and a longtime Blackheath resident charts the literary connections in a talk sponsored by the Blackheath Society and Friends of Blackheath Halls. In this final part, he identifies the SE London links of Bernardino Evaristo, Edith Nesbit, George Bernard Shaw, Malcolm Lowry, Edgar Wallace, Raymond Chandler, Graham Swift, T.S. Eliot, Kazuo Ishiguro, John Masefield, Henry Williamson, Mervyn Peake, Charles Madge, Humphrey Jennings, Julian Symons, Spike Milligan, David Jones, Paul Theroux, Claire Tomlin, Michel Frayn, the cartoonists Martin Rowson, Peter Brook, Matt and Donald McGill, the GPO Film Unit, Karl One Knausgaard, Francis Spufford and Wendy Cope. And of course we should not forget the literary work of Blake Morrison himself!
