Burnside Ltd, 1909.
Henry Burnside, closely followed by his son, William, held the lease from 1842 and the business continued until 1903 although the name remained over the shop until the 1950s.
Burnside styled his business The Blackheath Circulating Library. On William's death, his son Henry took over the business and advertised widely.
He boasted in 1903 that he would obtain any book in print on the same day if ordered before 1.00pm and also offered a discount of 3d in the 1/- ((25%) if paid in cash.
In 1903, he committed suicide.
It is now McColl's.
